Experimental Study on Natural Convective Heat Transfer in a Porous Medium Enclosed in an Inclined Cylindrical Annulus

Abstract

An experimental study has been conducted on natural convective heat transfer characteristics in a porous medium confined in an inclined cylindrical annulus heated from inside and cooled from outside. Effects of inclination and RaDa on temperature distribution and average Nusselt number are examined. The experimental results are compared with the previously obtained three-dimensional numerical one and a good agreement between them is obtained. Thermal oscillations with long periods are observed at the upper part of the annulus in the case with small inclination and large RaDa.
