Abstract
We report a functional photonic device composed of a photonic crystal and an polymer gain medium. In order to introduce an organic gain medium into the holes of the photonic crystal, multi-photon induced photopolymerization was carried out using femto-second laser source. We used a photonic crystal having a lattice constant of 500 nm and a hole diameter of 100 m, and a photocurable polymer with the laser-dye doped dendrimer. We demonstrated a defected-structure of the polymer functionalized photonic crystal, which promises applications of photonic crystal lasers.
