Abstract
GdBa2Cu3Oy(GdBCO) films have been prepared by a metal-organic deposition technique using metal-naphthenates by firing amorphous precursor films on SrTiO3 single-crystal substrates at a low oxygen partial pressure. The surface morphology and superconducting properties of the GdBCO films depended strongly on the carbon content and the intermediate phases in the precursor films and the heating conditions. c-axis oriented GdBCO films with flat surface were observed for the heating condition of calcining at 500 °C and firing at 800 °C. Tc and Jc of the GdBCO films were 91.3 K and 0.65 MA/cm2 at 77 K at self-field, respectively.
