Abstract

This paper concerns a large scale computation for wave diffraction/radiation problems, such as hydroelastic analysis of a VLFS in variable water depth and topography. An accelerated boundary element method utilizing the fast multipole algorithm and 8-noded quadratic element has been developed. The efficiency of the method both in storage requirement and computation time is presented by benchmark calculations. Numerical examples on hydroelastic analysis of a VLFS located on a variable shallow water depth and topography are also presented.
