N2 - In this study, rotating bending fatigue tests were carried out on three kinds of carbon steel with nearly equal sizes of ferrite but different volume fractions of pearlite. The role of pearlite in the fatigue process of the carbon steels is discussed through successive surface observations using the plastic replica method.
