Abstract

The Fermi surface nesting and instability in a ultrathin In film adsorbed on Cu(001) was analyzed. A strong periodic lattice distortion (PLD) was revealed by a scanning tunneling microscopy at low-temperature, reduced-symmetry phase. Fermi surface exhibited one-dimensional nesting upon the transition, which was in agreement with PLD periodicity.
