Abstract
We have developed the first single-fibre bi-directional XFP transceiver for optical metro/access networks. By using a differential signal line to the transmitter optical subassembly (TOSA), we realize a 10Gbit/s bidirectional module with low electrical crosstalk. We confirm crosstalk suppression by Finite-Difference Time- Domain (FDTD) simulations. The developed XFP module yields signals with good eye opening. We obtain the quite low sensitivity penalty of 0.3dB with simultaneous operation of the transmitter and receiver.
