Abstract

Oxidative decarboxylation of p-chlorobenzoylformic acid to p-chlorobenzoic acid occurs readily in the presence of a flavin, cyanide ion, and cationic micelles, the reaction involving trapping by the flaving of the carbanion intermediate formed from the cyanide-adduct.
