Formation of off-phase domains in L12 type ordering

Abstract

TDGL formulation has been applied for L12 type ordering in a binary alloy, taking account of the crystal symmetry. Kinetic equations for time-evolution of the order parameters and the concentration are derived from the Ginzburg-Landau type potential consisting of the mean-field free energy density and the interfacial energy terms. Three-dimensional simulation of the kinetic equations was performed to simulate time-evolution of off-phase domain structures in Cu3Au alloy system. The microstructures obtained are compared with the experimental results of TEM observation.
