Abstract
The formation of silicate complexes of aluminium in aqueous solution at pH 8 was studied by chromatography and flow injection analysis. Most of the aluminium formed anionic species with AlOSi bonds in monosilicic acid solution. A complex A2L6 (A = aluminium; L = Si in silicic acid) could be separated on a Sephadex G-50 column. The existence of mononuclear complexes of aluminium, AL3 and AL4, was suggested from an adsorption experiment on an anion-exchange resin.
