    Abstract

Corrosion behavior of several oxide ceramics that could be employed as aggregates in the castable refractories was examined by both experiments and thermodynamic calculations. The tested slag was composed of silica, alumina and calcia. The wettability of molten slag on ceramic substrates was evaluated by the contact angle measurement where a small amount of slag was set onto the ceramic. On the other hand, a small piece of the ceramic was soaked in a molten slag pot. The reaction products were identified by X-ray diffraction. The elemental distribution was investigated between slag and ceramics by SEM-EDS analysis.
