Gate controlled electrostatic droplet ejection

Abstract

We demonstrated the gate-controlled electrostatic droplet-ejection. Two prototypes of ejection head were investigated: the capillary-type and the needle-type. In both types, well controlled droplet ejection was observed. The needle-type ejects much finer droplets than the capillary-type. This liquid ejection technique offers the Inkjet drawing which is independent of the surface structure of substrate. Therefore it will facilitate the application of the inkjet patterning technology to various electronic devices.
