Abstract

Linkage analysis and three-point cross established a novel, spontaneous Bombyx mori mutation, in which newly hatched larvae die without molting. The relevant gene, named nm-s, was localized at 3.0 centimorgans on the 1st linkage group; thus it was a sex-linked non-molting gene, never found in previously described non-molting mutants in B. mori.
