Abstract

Heuristic scheduling schemes for a genomic application (InterProScan) are implemented and evaluated on an Open Bioinformatics Grid (OBIGrid), which is an experimental Grid for bioinformatics being developed by Japan Committees. This paper discusses the details of our implemented scheduling schemes and compares their mean response times. Our results show that a scheduling scheme using distribution of applications reduces mean response time. when load level is low, and a scheduling scheme using input sequence distribution reduces mean response time when load level is high. Based on the results, we also implemented a new scheduling scheme that can reduce mean response for all load levels.
