High mobility OFET using polydiacetylene vacuum deposited films

Abstract

We prepared a highly ordered polydiacetylene thin film by vacuum deposition of 10, 12-pentacosadiynoic acid (PDA), followed by photo-polymerization of the PDA layer under UV-light irradiation. We demonstrated that morphological control of the polydiacetylene film by optimizing substrate temperature during formation of the diacetylene monomer layer provides high field-effect mobility in an organic field effect transistor. Using an optimum substrate temperature of 50°C during the PDA monomer deposition, we obtained a high field-effect hole mobility of 0.8 cm2/Vs with p-type field-effect transistor characteristics in the top source-drain electrode configuration.
