Abstract
We examined into the sequence how designers shape mock-ups and use CAD systems, in order to develop a intelligible human interface of Computer Aided Industrial Design system. The operation is not so direct when we make 3 dimensional models in the computer, as we compared with the case of direct modeling, using foamed plastic. The most effective way to understand the industrial designer's work is to involve industrial designers in the human interface design. Therefore we industrial designer took part in the development of Computer Aided Industrial Design System from the beginning stage. We applied the real modeling process as a interface metaphor and we tried to create a new operating environment which has natural operation tending to industrial designer's modeling sequence. We tried to make a prototype of human interface as, 1 : Standard modeling sequence. 2 : Command architecture. 3 : Icon design. 4 : Screen design.
