Hydrogen mapping across a crevice: Effect of applied potential

Abstract

Iron exposed to acetate buffer in the presence of a crevice assembly showed metal dissolution and hydrogen evolution. Permeated hydrogen was successfully mapped on the rear surface of the crevice using the silver decoration technique. Magnitude of silver deposit varied with the change in the applied potential, with inhomogeneous distribution.
