Abstract

The authors carried out towing tank tests using a 1/16 scale model to observe the wave collapse phenomenon near the bow of a high-speed craft. The image of the wave near the bow was recorded by a digital still camera and a digital video camera during the tests to establish a new evaluation technique for the effect of the wave. The relation between the wave collapse phenomenon near the bow that composed of waves and spray and measured ship resistance was investigated.
