Abstract
Highly oriented YBa2Cu3Ox ceramic samples were prepared a 'mechanical aligning' processing technique which involved growth of large crystallites and vibrational alignment of the crystalline grains. In these samples, crystalline grains were found to be highly oriented and closely packed. A maximum critical current density of 4200 A cm-2 (77 K) was obtained. It was also found that the Jc characteristic was influenced by certain conditions in this process of sample preparation.
