N2 - An expedient method to improve the accuracy in BEM and FEM is discussed in this paper. The concept of this method is based on the similarity of stress fields near notch roots. In this method, constant boundary elements are used for BEM and constant strain triangular finite elements for FEM. Therefore, personal computer programs can be used in order to analyze practical problems. This method is applied to some examples and its effectiveness is shown.
