Abstract

The algorithm for fault diagnosis by use of the signed directed graph has been improved so as to obtain diagnostic results of satisfactory accuracy. The improved algorithm requires both information about delays among state variables in a chemical process that are related to the manner of propagation of a failure, and information about dynamic characteristics of measured variables to be practically observed in the process. The usefulness of this algorithm is demonstrated by its application to a pilot plant.
