Abstract
This paper introduces a technique for making an index on a personal time space with keywords. The index made based on this technique is used for life-log search. Many types of life-logs such as a snapshot image taken with a digital camera can be assigned onto a personal time axis. A user can search such types of lifelogs can with keywords using such index without manual annotations. Our technique uses user's personal e-mail messages for generating an index on his/her personal time space. For generating an index, we have to consider the relationship between an index word and an element of personal time space. We divide the relationship into three sub-relationships. They are (1) the relationship between an index word and an e-mail message, (2) the relationship between an e-mail message and a temporal expression in e-mail messages and (3) the relationship between a temporal expression and an element of personal time space. Each relationship is weighted from three kinds of viewpoints : local weight, global weight and normalization factor.
