title = "Influence of instantaneous end effects on attractive levitation force at standstill of combined-levitation-and-propulsion SLIM",
abstract = "A controlled-attractive Maglev vehicle in our laboratory is levitated and propelled by only single-sided linear induction motor (SLIM). The vehicle with two primary armatures is 96 cm in length and 42.25 kg in weight. The guideway consisted of aluminum reactive plate and back-iron is 3 m in length. Using a decoupled-control method of attractive-levitation and propulsion in SLIM, its normal and thrust forces are applied independently to levitate and to propel the vehicle. A compact combined-levitation-and-propulsion SLIM Maglev vehicle system can be realized without any additional levitation magnets and it can levitate independently of the vehicle speed. This control method has been verified by the levitation-mode running experiment for half guideway span supported by additional pillar at center of full guideway and the soft touch mass-reduced-mode running experiment for full guideway span without any additional pillar.",
