Abstract
The flip-flop operation of a distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser using sidemode injection locking is demonstrated. The mode suppression induced by spectral hole burning between two longitudinal modes allows stable bistable operation. A switching time of 0.8 ns and a switching power of 30 μW in flip-flop cycle of 10 ns are successfully demonstrated.
