Abstract

An efficient plasma heating and maintenance for more than one minute was achieved by ion cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF) heating in the large helical device (LHD). Ions were mainly heated by waves and a high-energy ion tail was observed. These results were consistent with 1D full-wave-analysis-code calculation.
