Abstract

Propagation and absorption structure of ICRF wave excited by antenna current in a high temperature plasma are analysed in a model tokamak geometry. Two-dimensional power deposition profile for each plasma species and coupling to a finite size antenna are simultaneously obtained for the two-ion hybrid resonance case and the second harmonic resonance case. Accessibility condition of the fast wave and partition of the absorbed power are studied numerically and analytically. Total impedance of the antenna is calculated and coupling efficiency is studied with inclusion of a resistive wall loss.
