Abstract

The kinetic theory of the collisional drift-tearing instability in a finite-β cylindrical tokamak is investigated using the BGK collision operator in the absence of a temperature gradient. The drift-tearing mode, which is stabilized by the coupling to the outgoing drift mode, is further stabilized by electron collisions.
