The preparation of a polymer-stabilized blue phase containing laser dye was demonstrated along with the measurement of light emission due to stop-band effect of blue-phase photonic crystals. The laser emission in polymer/blue-phase composites, could be measured over a wide range of temperatures. Platelets of the blue phases were grown which exhibited a growth in sub-square-millimeter by applying an electric fields. The results show that in addition to laser applications, polymer stabilized blue-phases could be exploited for various other optoelectronic applications.
