Localized state in a nonlinear resistor network

    Abstract

    A simple model equation is proposed to understand a mechanism of localized states in dissipative systems. This is a very simplified model for filament-like discharge patterns and can be expressed as a nonlinear resistor network model through spatial discretization. The model equation is piecewise linear and can be solved exactly.
