Abstract

Active multi-mode-interferometer (MMI) laser diodes (LDs) realized superior fiber coupling efficiency of 84% with low driving voltage characteristics, which resulted in a significant 55% reduction in power consumption compared with regular LDs at 0.4-W fiber-output power.
