T1 - Measurement of Crack Opening Displacement in Mode I Interlaminar Fracture of CFRP by Moire Interferometry

N2 - Mode I interlaminar fracture was studied using double cantilever beam (DCB) specimens of unidirectional carbon fiber/epoxy composites. Moire interferometry was employed to measure crack opening displacement (COD) in the vicinity of a crack tip. Measured values of COD were compared with those theoretically obtained. It was found that the slope at the beam root of the specimens plays an important role in increasing the values of COD. Fracture toughness GI was evaluated by two kinds of methods, and the results were compared with those of the COD measurement.
