Abstract

A constant heating rate method (I) and continuous heating method (II) is applied to measurement of the effective thermal diffusivity for five kinds of coals under a temperature range of 300-1100 K and heating rate of 0. 017-0. 083K/s. The effective thermal diffusivities of the each coal versus temperature show a similar tendency: the values are almost constant until 820K and then increase rapidly. The rise in effective thermal diffusivity shifts from low to high temperature as the fixed carbon content increases.
