The interdiffusion coefficients of γ (Ni solid solution), γ1 (L12-type Ni3Al), and β (B2-type NiAl) phases are measured from several diffusion couples in the Ni Al system using an analytical electron microscope and an electron probe microanalyzer. For the determination of interdiffusion coefficients, the Sauer & Freise technique is adopted. Concentration dependence of interdiffusion coefficients and activation energies for interdiffusion in these phases is determined. The interdiffusion coefficients and the activation energies obtained in this study are compared with those reported in the literature; including self- and impurity diffusivities.
