Milling duration induced structural and magnetic properties of Fe/MnO nanocomposites

Abstract

Exchange bias (EB) and magnetic properties of ferromagnetic (FM) Fe and antiferromagnetic (AFM) MnO nanocomposites prepared by the high-energy ball-milling have been investigated. X-ray diffraction patterns indicate the formation of pure phase materials having grain size in the nanoscale region. Presence of EB field confirms the effective coupling takes place in the samples milled for prolonged duration. Increase in coercivity with milling duration indicates the reduction of grain size towards single domain regime.
