Abstract
Calix[4]arenes having two fluorescent pyrenes on the lower rim were synthesized. In response to inclusion of guest molecules, the ratio of monomer vs. excimer emission changed sensitively. The results offer a new sensory system designed on the basis of calix[4]arenes.
