Abstract
We have developed an MR image-guided robotic system for laparoscopic local ablation therapy This system consists of small surgical manipulators, real-time MR image guidance and an operation table for the small surgical manipulator. We planned the protocol of the laparoscopic radiofrequency ablation therapy using this robotic system and tested it with a phantom included as a target. The operator can easily control the manipulator in eight directions using the MR-compatible hand-held switch with Interactive Scan Control (ISC) and a three-dimensional high-resolution image-guide to puncture the target. Puncturing the target by this system was easier than by hand. The MR image-guided robotic system for laparoscopic local ablation therapy can help by enabling the operator to precisely puncture the target.
