Nanohardness measurement of high-purity Fe-C martensite

Abstract

High-purity iron-carbon binary martensitic steels and body centered cubic single crystals were studied using nanohardness measurements. The effect of grain size on the strength of martensite was investigated. The ratio of nanohardness to micro Vickers hardness of the martensite was found to be smaller than those of the single crystals.
