Abstract
Tip-stable, tip-oscillating, and tip-splitting types of dendrites were observed experimentally in a two-dimensional supersaturated NH4Cl solution. The relation between the tip velocity V and the tip curvature K were measured for the tip-stable type. It was found that V is proportional to K instead of K2 which is expected from the marginal-stability hypothesis in a two-dimensional melt-growth system.
