Abstract
Satoyama is a place where nature and humans enjoy a well-balanced symbiosis. The preservation and use of 'Satoyama' is attracting attention in many aspects, including environmental preservation of the land and the use of natural resources. The woods of Satoyama are made up of several different tree species. These tree species can be classified through observation of seasonal changes in the colors of the leaves. The present study examines the possibility of classifying the main tree species in Satoyama from changes in the colors of the leaves of the different types of tree using aerial time-series color photographic data.
