N2 - Microstructural observations and crystallographic analyses of diffusion-couple interfaces are conducted using analytical electron microscopy (AEM). The diffusion couples consist of single-phase, two-phase, and three-phase from combinations of two of the γ (Ni solid solution), γ' (L12-type Ni3Al, and β (B2-type NiAl) phases in the Ni-Al system. The reaction processes at the interfaces are deduced from the AEM observations and analyses. In addition, the microstructural feature of the "pseudo-boundary" formed in the β phase is presented.
