Abstract

Submillimeter and millimeter wave electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements of BaCu2(Si1-xGex) 2O7, which is a mixed system of an S=1/2 one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet with the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, have been performed to investigate the limitations of the Oshikawa-Affleck theory for the ESR of an S=1/2 one-dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet with a staggered field. The magnetic field dependence of the linewidth and the field induced energy gap will be discussed in connection with the Oshikawa-Affleck theory.
