Abstract

With respect to degradation and failure of composite insulator in superconductivity power apparatus, partial discharge (PD) characteristics in artificial voids containing atmospheric air are investigated experimentally at room and cryogenic temperatures. The results show that the PD inception voltage, phase resolved PD characteristics, PD intensity and statistical delay time depend strongly on the temperature.
