Abstract
Periodic structures are observed both in the spectra of real and imaginary parts of the nonlinear susceptibility of an optically transparent medium. The oscillation period is approximately proportional to the delay time between pump and probe pulses. The periodic structures are attributed to an induced grating caused by an inertial response of a molecular motion.
