Abstract

The integration of optical semiconductor devices such as lasers, photodetectors, wavelength multiplexers/demultiplexers and optical amplifiers/gates realizes the wavelength tunable function required for WDM systems. We describe several monolithic integrated devices being developed for WDM applications.
