Abstract

We report fast and high-dynamic-range photoresponses in organic photodiodes based on a mixed film of poly-(2-methoxy-5-(2′-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4- phenylene vinylene) (MEH-PPV) and [5,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester([5,6]-PCBM). The energy conversion efficiency of the diodes under AM 1.5 illumination was 2.04%. The photon-to-electron internal quantum efficiency was evaluated as 0.5, indicating the efficient conversion of absorbed photons to electricity. Optical response speed, measured using a pulsed laser system, showed that the electrical rise time is below 500 ps. A linear correlation between incident light intensity and photocurrent was also obtained for this system.
