Abstract

STR analysis using AmpFlSTR Profiler Kit to latent traces on adhesive tapes which had twisted around the corpse was carried out in murder and abandoning a dead body case, in order to find the trace which originated from the criminal existed on the sticky side of these tapes. As a result, we were able to find traces which didn't originate from the victim on these tapes, and each type of nine STR loci detected from these traces was completely the same as that detected from the suspect's buccal cell. This case proved that the STR analysis using AmpFlSTR Profiler Kit from trace is considered to be very useful for criminal investigation.
