Preparation of task specific ionic liquids for lithium battery systems

Abstract

Ionic liquids (ILs) based on the TFSI anion and quaternary ammonium cations, containing carbonyl group, such as trimethyl-(2-oxo-propyl)-ammonium, was prepared as nonvolatile organic additive, which improve apparent electrochemical stability of ILs consisted EMI. The addition of both the additive salt and a lithium salt effectively suppressed the reductive decomposition of the EMI cation on Ni. Then lithium redox peak could be observed in the cyclic voltammograms of END [TFSI] on Ni.
