Abstract

during abnormal situation is developed. The structure of the plant is viewed as an assembly of units and valves. The concepts of "state of flow in the unit" and "state of valve" are introduced for representing faults and actions to be taken by an operator. Three types of simulation are defined according to the changes in the state of flow in order to estimate the state of the unit qualitatively.
