Abstract

Colorimetric detection of mercury ions (Hg2+) with the naked eye was accomplished within 1 min by a combination of non-crosslinking aggregation of double-stranded DNA-carrying gold nanoparticles and complex formation of thymine-Hg2+-thymine.
