Redox Durability of Ni-Co Alloy Cermet Anodes for SOFCs

Abstract

SOFCs are expected to be commonly used as a clean energy conversion technology. Ni-zirconia cermet, which is commonly used for SOFC anodes as an electronic conductor, has a problem that Ni agglomerates due to redox reactions disrupting the conductive path and leading to irreversible performance degradation. In this study, we fabricated anodes using Ni-Co alloy instead of Ni. By alloying Ni with Co, it was found that the same power generation performance and high redox cycle durability could be obtained.
